Orange Blossom Classic - Black Lives Matter
The past days and weeks have, once again, shone a spotlight on the tremendous injustices in our society. We stand with our communities who are voicing their hurt, pain, and deep frustrations with systems that oppress and devalue Black lives. We remain more committed than ever to increase the awareness and significance of historically black colleges and universities on black culture.
Our commitment to scholarship and student athletes is demonstrated in the return of the Orange Blossom Classic which was founded by J.R.E. Lee Jr., son of Florida A&M University's President in 1933. This game, played in a "blacks only" ballpark, was used as a platform to celebrate African American athletes and established the foundation of HBCU classics which are used to generate millions of dollars in scholarships for our student athletes.
