The Orange Blossom Classic was founded in 1933 and became an annual event in 1947. Throughout its illustrious history, the OBC became recognized as the unofficial “Black National Championship” game, establishing its legacy as the most important annual sporting event and the largest annual gathering of any kind for African Americans.

The OBC isn’t just a celebration of football. The weekend of high energy, educational, cultural, and fundraising events is a celebration of One Big Community, joining together to raise scholarship funds for the participating schools for years to come.

The Orange Blossom Classic was founded in 1933 and became an annual event in 1947. Throughout its illustrious history, the OBC became recognized as the unofficial "Black National Championship" game, establishing it's legacy as the most important annual sporting event and the largest annual gathering of any kind for African Americans.

This year, on Labor Day weekend, we invite you to experience the rematch when the Orange Blossom Classic returns with Florida A&M University and Jackson State University.

The Orange Blossom Classic was re-established to enhance Historically Black Colleges & Universities' exposure in the enriched community of Miami Gardens. It promises to attract thousands of fans, alumni, school members, and family members from these respected communities, highlighting the interest in HBCUs and their roles in educating aspiring professionals and developing our future leaders.

With a goal to raise scholarship funds for the participating schools for years to come, the reinvigorated Orange Blossom Classic will help to support the knowledge and experience offered by the discipline, commitment, and dedication it takes to be a Historically Black College & University student.
