Greeknik Honors Class of 2020; Orange Blossom Classic and Uncle Luke team up.
Updated: Jun 17
Boom, clack. Boom, clack. Boom, clack. This is the imagined sound of Black graduates strutting (or strolling) across the stage to be recognized for earning college degrees. It is also the would-be thunder of new members of Greek-letter fraternities and sororities who step in honor or crossing the burning sands. Most have been unable to celebrate their journey into Spring 2020 Greek life by having a traditional probate show that includes all the stepping, stunting and showing off of colorful paraphernalia.
This semester, a wave of silence roared around the world due to COVID-19. Stadiums closed. Restaurants do not have long lines filled with families and graduates dressed in their cap and gowns and commencement ceremonies, too, have been cancelled, delayed or modified. But the city of Miami Gardens will not allow the next generation to be defeated by a pandemic. To honor graduates and Greeks, allow them their rite of passage and celebrate revival of the Orange Blossom Classic (OBC), the internet is being shut down. In partnership with music powerhouse and Miami icon Uncle Luke , DJ Nasty 305 and DJ Tight, the OBC will host two, virtual events to be viewed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theOrangeBlossomFC
